Hmm... am I the only one imagining a pretty cool movie about a serial killer who lost everything because his doctorate thesis - that certain cell phone numbers would interact with the GSM cell phone network encryption in such a way as to make breaking the encryption trivially easy - was so politically explosive that the board saw fit not only to reject his paper, but have him framed for a crime and sent to prison, and now he uses his "proof of concept" codebreaker to stalk and murder the owners of one of the vulnerable numbers, over and over?
