From Russa, with... Something...

Welcome to the former Soviet Union, where all manner of things are possible. Possible, yes. Desirable, well, that's something else all together.

Although, truth be told, I recall seeing things nearly as goofy in and around the South while I was growing up. Most are now long gone, so I think it's as much a sign of poverty as it is cultural quirks.

Probably, but given the Old Soviet mindset, it's quite possible that much of the building mistakes are due to beauracracy.

The poor and silly stuff I agree with you on - the apples have got to get to market somehow and if all you have are one of those crappy little cars...

Love the pic of the guy driving maybe half a car. That doesn't happen in the US because we wouldn't put up with most of this crap. The first time Ivan Applecar ran someone off the road because he couldn't see a thing behind him, the lawyers would be on him thicker than fruit flies, even if it meant the entire town of Whatevergrad had to starve for lack of apples.
