You Mean This Doesn't Happen Every Day?

Because around my house it sure does:

Felinophiles may want to be extra alert this morning, because today is National Hairball Awareness Day. Unless it was yesterday. There's some confusion about the date. No matter. For people who own cats - a third of all American households, half of those with two or more - hair balls are an issue that keeps coming up.

Those who think cats are the epitome of style and elegance have obviously not been paying attention when they cross their eyes, arch their back, and then turn themselves inside out on your carpet.

As you know I have never owned a cat until 2 years ago. I adopted two adult cats, litter mates, one male, one female two years ago this past February. I think I have seen a hairball twice in that time. The only time either of them has urinated or pooped outside their litter boxes was during a very serious illness two months ago. Nala has never had an accident of any kind. I find them much easier to take care of than dogs. I miss my dogs very much, but find the fuzzy ones good companions.

I do find the continuous shedding to be maddening but they are very willing for me to brush them anytime. Not much shedding during the winter months but I am having a terrible time so far this summer.

Pat - what that means is that you got lucky. Hell, we can't even finish shampooing the carpet before one of them leaves us a "present".

God smiled when I made that smarty pants comment yesterday! Guess what I found on my living room rug this morning - it was a very small hair ball, picked it up with tissue with out leaving any sign! ROTFLOLPIMP!!

Maybe two is just a lucky number.
