considering our cats (Garrison, in particular), you could also scrape up a bunch of chocolate cookie filling (I think it's basically crisco, flavor, and sugar if you needed to make it yourself), heat it up until it's a bit runny, and then dump it into the cake to make a nice 'icing-surprise'. Another thing to do is leave a couple of fist-sized pieces of cake to simulate that ummy-num solid scoopable chunk part that kitties leave...
