Bloody Animal Trade Thrives in Post-SARS China

The civet cat has long been highly prized for its tender meat, which is reputed to help blood circulation, but there are growing signs that more Chinese believe it could pose a health threat.

The Chinese will eat anything that will keep their winky up. I especially like it how they add to the problem of the endangered animal list. If they catch any nasty goodies from what they eat, thats their problem.

Anything except Viagra, it seems.

Funny how it's the "new-age" homeopathic neo-Luddite remedies that seem to cause the most damage to the environment. People strip-mine hillsides for "magic crystals," tear up fields for "authentic wild herbs," and poach endangered species for "ancient tribal medicines." And all the while they claim to be more environmentally aware by doing so.
