When Economics Attack

Problem: Greedy, evil corporations heartlessly refuse to provide any sort of extended benefits to the workers they thoughtlessly cast off like so many unwanted puppies.

Solution: We are Democrats! Champions of the People! Behold, Vile Corporate America, The Power of the State Compels You!!!

Problem: Stage two? There's a stage two? Nobody told me there would be a stage two.

I don't expect the true believers sitting on the left side of the peanut gallery to even understand the point. I'm hoping those who got lured over there by the shiny trinkets they were selling you have now realized it was nothing more than paste and foil.

What's funny here is that my heartless corporation, which might be decried by those who don't understand economics nor business nor economies of scale as contributing to the cost of healthcare, actually provides benefits all around. Discounts for engaging in healthy lifestyles, multiple choices for healthcare, decent severance packages, lots of vacation, etc.

Why? Because it's a competitive advantage to hiring quality people.

However, my company is worth a metric shitload of money. Small businesses aren't and the advantages aren't there. They can't absorb additional costs like a large corporation can.

Seems that someone got elected even though they failed Econ 101. Hope and Change.

heh.
