For the Discerning Cephalopod, Nothing Else Will Do

Octopus enjoy watching TV, as long as it's in hi def, and don't seem to express distinct personalities in a specific set of experiments. I've read elsewhere that many animals may ignore TV because it doesn't "look right" to them. Seems we've got another set of critters to add to the list.

These researchers must be more underfunded than I thought, since they've apparently been unable, until now, to simply stream videos to something like the 2048 x 1536 120fps monitor that I've had for a while now, and see if octupusses responded to that.

Of course, the test that is guaranteed to work with any animal is the good old analog "mirror" device. With a little creativity, you can even make it show just about anything an HDTV can, and at the maximum resolution and fps that reality can support!
