As Long as There are No Tentacles

Dreamworks has acquired the rights to the popular manga Ghost in a Shell to develop as a live action property. Spielberg himself took an interest, although his name does not seem to be directly attached to the project. Here's to hoping it doesn't suck!

GODDAMMIT!!!!!!

This does NOT need to be raped by American directors and made into a live action film. It's perfect the way it is. What in the shit makes anyone think they'd do anything other than Americanize it and screw the thing up all to hell?!?

I fear a "Starship Troopers" like experience here.

And no, it doesn't have tentacles. Electrical wiring, odd "birthing scenes" with random nudity, etc.

I said the same thing to him over dinner last night.

Ya never know, I am really surprised that they have not done "Appleseed" yet.

Or Akira. Or Bubblegum Crisis. Or Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Hollywood needs to stay the hell away. Next we know, we'll here that Ben Affleck is scheduled to play one of the roles.
