Micro Mini Braids

microbraids1.jpg micromini2.jpg

Ok ok, why African American braids? Let alone Micro Minis? WHY NOT? THEY ARE HOT!

All I have to say is that all of the ladies in the salon thought I was 'da bomb' with them (being the only Caucasian girl there), and actually pull the look off rather well. I am "exotic". I was actually asked if I was part African- American (no...), was I Indian(noo...). I am part Italian, does that help? It's close to those countries? YES YES!! That must be it.

I personally thank my self-tanner.

Hee, I love the reaction. "You look good with those! Therefore you aren't totally white! But we aren't RACIST or anything!"

Posted by: densityduck on June 19, 2007 11:04 AM

Truth be told. While you seem to be an attractive young lady the question begs to be asked: why would you do that to your hair ? THAT is a hair style for someone who has nappy hair i.e. an African hair style NOT for someone with fine, silky hair like yours ? I really don't get it why too many young people today have to imitate being black (and not even an educated black)and try to show how "africanized" they are ?? When they're not african ?? This seems to indicate a serious IDENTITY crisis going on with the youth of today. YOU ARE WHITE SO no corn rows--corn rows are awefully ugly--and you lack any class if you think it looks good-maybe all your taste is in your mouth !
And yes I am being judgemental and yes I am NOT being politically correct--if that offends you then you have the problem. Anyone with any amount of refinement will know immediately ! DUHH !

And the tattoo for me personally is the most ugly disgusting gross thing a person can do to themself beside body piercing--YUK ! What the hell is it today: make yourself ugly and gross and go for the lowest common element and that is cool ? NOT !!!!! MAybe in the jailhouse not the UPSCALE REFINED EDUCATED CLASSY PERSON --but that is NOT cool -- is it ??? PUKE !!!!! Well, ANOTHER sign that the culture is going to the dogs and the country is dying--and it is folks !!! She maybe will appear on Jerry Springer next--who knows ???? Corn rows are ugly !!

Truth be told. While you seem to be an attractive young lady the question begs to be asked: why would you do that to your hair ? And why shouldn't she? It's her hair, isn't it? The only people she has to answer to for her hair would be herself and her husband (because Olivia simply doesn't care.). You can not like it, but that's not something she should be concerned with, now is it?

THAT is a hair style for someone who has nappy hair i.e. an African hair style NOT for someone with fine, silky hair like yours ? Are you sure you're not Imus? I'm asking as that comment seems to be a bit racist in nature. You do know that the Celts would put braids in their hair, no? Cultures other than African cultures have been known to braid their hair, no? Hairstyles have been adapted by different cultures since the different cultures started mixing. Why would you try to segragate them by race? Do you also berate someone like, say, Tyra Banks for having straight flowing hair?

I really don't get it why too many young people today have to imitate being black (and not even an educated black)and try to show how "africanized" they are ?? Or is it that she simply chose a fun hairstyle that she's never tried before just for the hell of it? Or that it's damn easy to care for when she's on vacation? Or is having micromini braids only ever done to show how black one is?

When they're not african ?? What if they're American and black. They aren't African, so should they not have the braids?

This seems to indicate a serious IDENTITY crisis going on with the youth of today. Maybe if you're a white supremacist it does, but to the rest of us, the mixing of cultures is something to be expected. It happens. Take the different elements and blend them together to come out better on the other side.

YOU ARE WHITE (actually, I think she's Italian) SO no corn rows--corn rows are awefully ugly--and you lack any class if you think it looks good-maybe all your taste is in your mouth ! Just because the hairstyle is ugly to you doesn't mean it's ugly to others. Attractiveness is different for different people. It's not one single ideal, nor is it limited to specific hairstyles and modes of dress.

And yes I am being judgemental and yes I am NOT being politically correct--if that offends you then you have the problem. Well, not only are you being judgemental, you're being racist. Not a lack of PC, but racist. And stupidly so, honestly. Your lack of understanding that cultures are not static, but change and adapt to differing standards (and have done say since we had cultures) shows your lack of intelligence. Your commenting in this manner is actually much more reflective of your level of class (or lack thereof) than any hairstyle on Ellen could ever be.

Anyone with any amount of refinement will know immediately ! DUHH ! No. This is not true. Anyone that you've defined by your narrow standards as "classy" would have the good sense to either not comment or say something to the effect of, "While they're not my taste, you carry them well." That's class, not this nonsense that you're spewing.

And the tattoo for me personally is the most ugly disgusting gross thing a person can do to themself beside body piercing--YUK ! I'll be sure to let the Samoans and Japanese who consider this to be a high art form know that you detest an important part of their culture. I'm sure they'll be glad to know.

Secondly, tattoos are many different things to many different people. Some of them are memorials. Some of them are for fun. Some remind us of things. Again, your lack of class is showing. Might want to tuck that back in...

What the hell is it today: make yourself ugly and gross and go for the lowest common element and that is cool ? If they feel more attractive, and their social circles agree, what problem is it causing you? You don't have to look. You don't have to agree, either. But to call it wrong when it's a subjective judgement is silly and baseless.

NOT !!!!! MAybe in the jailhouse not the UPSCALE REFINED EDUCATED CLASSY PERSON --but that is NOT cool -- is it ??? Yes, and people in jailhouses also have normal haircuts as well. Should we abandon them simply because inmates have them? How about shoes? White t-shirts? Just because you see something in a jailhouse doesn't mean it's bad. It can be, but it has to be judged on it's on merits.

PUKE !!!!! Well, ANOTHER sign that the culture is going to the dogs and the country is dying--and it is folks !!! No - another sign that the culture is doing exactly what every other culture that has ever existed has done. It's changing. That you're too uneducated or willfully ignorant of this fact doesn't mean that the country is dying.

She maybe will appear on Jerry Springer next--who knows ???? Corn rows are ugly !! Where in the world does this nonsense come from?!? Everyone who gets micro mini braids and has tattoos ends up on Springer?

Quite simply, this was the most ignorant and classless post I've seen in quite a long time. Maybe if you opened your eyes to the world around you it'd be possible for you to see the reality of the world, how it moves and changes.

However, it's rather possible that your lack of class and refinement will prevent that...

Yes, I find it funny that AMCGLTD gets hate mail at times. It is rather amusing what you will pull in when you cast out the line.

It is also rather funny, they did not leave an email NOR a true web address, the bumped it back to AMCGLTD.

Say what you want on here, but back your shit up DClass.

I do not believe that corn rows or any other braided look is an uneducated look. I have seen people who do not have braids in their hair and look uneducated. What does that prove? ThatThey should not be judged by such sterotypically twits. I think that we are not stuck in a time warp of the times in which people are standing in such judgment seats. We all are entitled to do to ourselves, that which is pleasing to us. Life is short and we get no do overs in it. I would much rather please myself than to even care what the racist seeming bastard on this blog even thinks!

Girls with corn rows look like men

Posted by: Sambo on January 30, 2009 09:24 PM

I think you hair looks awesome. I have always wanted to do that to my hair. And I am Caucasian. And I really don't think that braids or cornrows are a African American thing or a White thing. I think if you can pull it off then go for it. And it looks really cool on you. My hair is shoulder length. But I am going to get extensions in them so that they can be really long. And the tattoos. I also have tattoos on my arm. And I am getting a 3/4 sleeve on one arm. You go girl

Posted by: Sarah on February 20, 2009 08:45 PM

First of all, so many ppl in this world are ignorant. "If you are'nt black, then you look trashy with braids." That statement is what makes you critics look uneducated and ignorant. lol. If you are that concerned with a white girl "taking" "your" hairstyle, then maybe you are the one with the identity issues and you have a problem with what you are, since you feel like because you are black your hair is the only hair that has the right to be braided. Its pure ignorance and I feel sorry for you that you have to bash another race who is just doing what makes them feel comfortable with themselves, because WHO ON EARTH set the rule that only black girls can rock weave and braids? I believe NO ONE. Therefore, get the fuck over yourself and grow the fuck up and worry about your own fuckin nappy ass hair! Worry about yourslef hater!

I think you look hot honey. Any one in the world can do any hairstyle they like. And being a hairstylist, I’ve seen it all. I’ve had micros before and they looked great, i have many African American friends who also loved them on me. I’m going to have to agree with one of the women who posted the thing about Tyra. If braids are African, then African people shouldn’t get their hair relaxed, or straightened, or even lightened because its naturally dark, or naturally curly..THATS REDICULES!! Hairstyles are anyone with HAIR!!! Race has nothing to do with it.

You look fantastic with the braids, thanks for sharing the pics.

WOW. I would love to see what that person looks like. Talk about ignorance. I'm (mostly lol)African American and I think micros look hot on you! You can really pull it off! Micros are NOT just for NAPPY HEADED women. I dont have NAPPY HAIR and I have micros on right now. Some AA women have to take A LOT of time to do their hair and if micros speed up that process then so be it. That moron can shove it.

Work that 'do girl!

The braids are very cute. I don't think you look exotic, but it does look cute. Those aren't micro braids, though. Those are box braids.

White people don't need micros. They don't look good. Stop trying to jack a style that's not yours.

Think before you comment.

Beyonce has blond hair. That's not natural. Neither is straight.
