Mobile Suit Gundam Gramma

Coming soon to an assisted living home near you: powered suits for the elderly. If successful in Japan, it'll be interesting to see what, if any, regulatory roadblocks are thrown up to keep this thing out of the US.

Let's think this through for a second, shall we?
First, we've got a population that fought in a protracted and bloody struggle about 50 years ago or so. Second, they are constantly practicing tai chi. Third, they want us off their lawns.
Now we're going to give them powered suits that'll quickly have armor and weapons? We're doomed. It'll be nothing but Golden Girls and Wilford Brumley from here on out. Hope you like oatmeal and your mail order die'a'bee'tus treatments...

Can you imagine how many farmers' markets you could destroy with that thing?

Considering how long Johnson & Johnson has been trying to have Dean Kamen's iBot wheelchair approved as a medical device, I can easily believe we'll figure out how to replicate Star-Trek technology before we see these fantastic exo-skeletons. You'd think our leadership would be exposing the FDA's stalling technique instead of investigating overpaid sports stars drug habits...but what can we expect?
