Two-Headed Baby Born

Photos show an apparently normal torso with two separate heads cramped together on the shoulders.

Medical officials said tests have revealed the baby has two functioning brains, each one controlling its respective side of the body.

In addition, the single torso is said to contain two hearts and two spinal cords.

Article with picture.

Amazing and heart-breaking at the same time.

Isn't this just like the... rrrrg... "whosits" twins? Discovery did a show on them 'while back. Blonde girls. They seem to be doing OK. They'd be, nearly teenagers by now. I'd probably notice if they didn't make it, and I haven't seen anything like that yet.

So no, it's not fun to live life with your twin two inches from your face, but it is do-able. I suppose.

they died

The Hensel twins, Abby and Brittany, were born in March, 1990. They are called dicephalus conjoined twins. They have separate hearts and stomachs, one pair of arms and one pair of legs. Their spines join at the pelvis and they have only one set of organs from the waist down. I can find nothing to indicate they are not living.

The girls share three lungs, attend school and have two younger siblings. Google is amazing!

OK, they didn't die. They are a little bit older than I am, so I know how important it is right now to try to find our own identities. It has to be hard when people treat you like two people when you're not. Abigail and Brittany, if you read this, you are amazing!

The Hensel twins are amazing. They are the same age as me. My friend and i taped our ankles together and put our arm around each other. For one hour we had to put ourselves in each of their shoes. I dont think i could live an entire lifetime being conjoined. Brittany and Abigail you are inspiring.

I think they are an inspiration to everyone and they have what a lot of people don't have. People think that they are 1 person but they are 2 individuals. I am doing a science project on siamese twins.

I came across this story tonight and I was in shock to be honest...it must be difficult to live like this. But, things happen for a reason. I applaud the girls for having such courage and stamina to live everyday like they are. I have a special needs son and I know how difficult life can get when people do not understand and look down upon the situation....keep your chin up girls and continue on with your precious lives in peace love and happiness.....

I grew up in the same town as the twins. They used to go swimming at the same lake and my mother cleaned their teeth at the dental office. They are really sweet girls and two complete individuals. People should be kind and respectful as they are not a circus act!!!!!

Hi Brittany and Abby, I saw the TBS special on you and your family. I was so intrigued. I saw you, your mother and father about 10 years ago on the news. It is so nice to see you as "teens" and doing all the things young girls like to do (like your nails, hair, sports, etc). I am completely facinated as I am a twin myself. I understand the more assertive personality in twins. But you two seem to work completely together....and individually. Again I am intrigued. Thanks for the small peak into your daily lives. YOU and your family are wonderful! thanks for sharing...take care and all the best with college, a career and your futures.
