This is actually a very sad thing. No one was building choppers like he was - old school and the like. At least he went out doing what he loved...

I just found out about Indian Larry's death after watching the Biker Build off on the Discover Channel this evening. I am truly shocked and at a loss for words. The biker world has lost an amazingly talented individual. Nobody can fill his shoes. If there is any consolation to this tragedy, Larry died doing what he loved doing. I'm sure he would say he wouldnt have it any other way.

My condolensces to his family and friends.

...ride in peace Indian Larry....ride in peace.

Rest in peace Indian Larry. I was a big fan of his work and had always wanted to meet him. I hope that his family is doing well and may God be with them.

I as well was in awe of this mans ability. But that doesnt change the fact that he should not be dead. To ignore the affect that his actions could have on his wife and children if something like this were to happen is selfish, irresposible and dispicable. Simply wearing a dog dish would have saved his life and his family would still have him around. Remember him for his incredible skill but also as an example that simple safety should never be ignored.

I met Indian Larry at Daytona this year. He was just signing shirts and stuff..I really didn't talk to him..but Stood there by his booth for almost an hour just chilling...and he seemed like a really nice guy. He talked to every person that came up to him. I remember when I first saw him..he was wearing a tank top and some old sweats. I thought he was the...sh... because..he didn't care how he looked. People brought there kids to take pictures with him..Well, R.I.P brother...Your bikes were a big influence to the world of choppers...

Ride and rest in peace Indian Larry. I've watched all the biker build-off's, and just a quick example of how much of a class act Larry was: Larry was up against Billy Lane and Lane was having some difficulties with his bike. Larry helped Lane get the bike started and to the build-off so the two could be judged...Larry eventually won and received a trophy...which he cut in half and handed 1/2 to Lane and he kept 1/2! Larry said that because the two were such good friends, there was no winner or loser!!! What a class act!!
Indian Larry will be missed greatly but never ever forgotten! Ride on!

I was very sadden to find out that Indian Larry passed away after watching an episode of the Great Bike build off on the Discover Channel.

Indian Larry was a legend in the chopper world of building custom old school bikes. There was nobody better.

I remember watching one particular bike build off where Indian Larry could have won by default because his competitor was having bike problems. But instead, Larry helped his competitor with his bike problem. I think this best describes the type of person that Indian Larry was.

No mysteries up here so no need for the question mark symbol. Jesse James is just a wee cub of a bike builder....hope he lives long enough to master the craft. I was deeply saddened by the news of Indian Larry's passing, God bless him and his family -also to David Mann, of whom made some of the greatest and most famous biker art ever. I am looking for footage of Larry's accident, can anyone help?

I am Aju John Varghese from India (in Asia). I saw Indian Larry on Discovery Travel & Living on the build-off series & was amazed at his spirit & the man, especially during prize distribution at Sturgis, when he announced that neither he nor Billy Lane deserved to win, and neither of them deserved to lose, and that the contest was a draw& proceeded to cut the trophy in pieces, sharing it with everyone, the competitor as well as the audience. I am a B-school professor in India & I quoted this as the greatest display of sportsman spirit that I ever saw on television to my students.

It was only this Monday, February 21, 2005 that I came to know about his death in the discovery program. It was a huge shock to me.

I checked out the net for details regarding his death, and felt compelled to post this note since I felt that it might be touching for you ppl @ U.S to know that this gr8 guy had an effect on many of us, even across the oceans. Just shows how sincerity speaks, through the barriers of time & space.

I just wanted to let the family, dear & near ones of this gr8 soul to know that he will be fondly remembered & that we share in your grief, but more importantly, in am sure that he is indeed in heaven, he will surely not miss the ‘Gr8 bike builder’ & the ‘Heavenly Gasoline Alley’ up there!

Finally a word of comfort: 1 Thessalonians 4:13- “…But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

So we shall meet his again. Regards & God Bless.

i heard a while ago that Indian Larry past away, but I didn't believe it. I finished watching one of the great biker build of episodes and saw the memorial at the end of the show, it said that he died at te age of 55. I will always remember him as my role model just because of two things he said before he pasted away "always tell the truth that way you won't have to remember what you said" and "always do what you enjoy doing because eventually the money will catch up"
