An Electrifying Show
Personally, I think it's more about the hot broad hosting the thing. Humanity has a long, storied history of doing heinous things for fame and fortune. It's only surprising here because the media find it surprising.
Pretty famous scientific experiment replicated for amusement. Maybe if folks would actually, ya know, learn about science (okay, it's psychology so it's like a science, but not really) they'd see this for what it is.
