Iron Passing

One of the few people still relying on a full-body iron lung for breathing assistance has died. I remember when these things featured prominently in any number of TV shows or movies, mostly from the 60s. As noted in the article, nowadays it seems almost nobody uses them.

They still find use in some media... the latest sequel in the video game series "Silent Hill" features them quite prominently, mostly as that episode's primary "medical equipment to give you nightmares."

Garden sprayer for the first, catheter and a hole in the bottom for the second? Or maybe just a spray shield over a hole?
