Fun with Seaplanes

Introducing the MC72, an aircraft which has held the absolute speed record for piston-powered seaplanes for more than 70 years. Do not miss the video. That was one incredible-sounding engine.

You know, it'd probably be fun to live in days when some businessman decides to offer a prize for something fun like that and entire nations get behind it. Win or die trying* and all. I'm thinking a comparable test right now would be to award a prize for the first nation to successfully put a colony on the seabed at least a mile down. Must be self-sustaining and have a decent population. Then round two is the moon, then Mars. However, my huge prize of $6.38 keeps getting ignored.

bastards.

*Okay - I'm older and wiser. I'll let the younger invincible types win or die trying then clap or mourn appropriately.
