White Guide
Presenting StuffWhitePeopleLike.com, a damned funny blog about a white guy picking apart his own preferences and preconceptions and, in the process, doing so for nearly every other white person I know. Particularly amusing to me was an observation that sounded eerily like this site's co-owner:

These sandwiches generally start at $8.99. Remember that whenever a white person says they wants to go to a sandwich shop you are looking at at least a $15 outlay after tip and drink, $20 if the place has a good selection of microbrews.
Via Violins and Starships, who makes the quite valid point that we may find this amusing more because of where we live than the color of our skin. I don't much care, the satire works just as well when you live in the correct area.
Yeah, this one's making the rounds.
As usual, I like to point out two things:
First, this is more like "stuff middle-class people like" than it is "stuff white people like".
Second...y'know, imagine the shitstorm if someone made a site called "stuffblackpeoplelike" or "stuffasianpeoplelike". There would be mobs baying for blood and the bastinado. But hey, it's white people, and everyone knows that it's safe to make fun of white people because they aren't allowed to get mad because they're all fucking goddamn racist pigfuckers. Every single one of them. It's just part of the white mental makeup to be racist.

And as I was reading it, I came to much the same conclusion. But I would've labeled it stuff urban middle to upper class white liberals like.
And if everything on there's correct, I've determined that I'm not particularly white. Or even worse, I'm the wrong kind of white.

I mean, let me get this straight: I can't call someone "nigger" or "spic" or "beaner" or "bimbo", even in a joke not directed at anyone in particular, that's bad and wrong and I'll lose my job. Meanwhile assholes are filling up my inbox with lists of "YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK" jokes, and there's these dudes on TV who get laffs by pretending to be dumb-ass Southerners, and I challenge you to find a really stupid sitcom character who isn't white.

Just make sure they never grind you down to where you surrender that power. That's the best thing about living in the Bible Belt; you're still allowed (and even expected) to take care of yourself.
