Fun with Tanks

Funny only because nobody got hurt: Bicycles aren't the only vehicles which need to pay attention to road signs. That's what ya calls a real close shave there, yup.

On heavy vehicles, treads are much better at gripping terrain than wheels are. Tanks can stop and start much faster than you'd think 65 tons of steel could.

It has a lot to do with footprint of tread on the ground. Wheeled vehicles are on something in the neighborhood of 64 sq. in. of actual tread (figuring a 4"x4" footprint per tire), whereas the tank may actually have (with road treads) an order of magnitude or more of footprint.
