A Beer Bong, for the Rest of Us

Fark (of course) linked up this SMH Australia article about a recent decision to ban a deviced called "AWOL", which stands for "Alcohol Without Liquid".

Apparently the thing works by mixing regular "alcoholic spirits" (which I take to mean gin, vodka, whiskey, et. al.) with oxygen. The resulting vapor is then inhaled by the "drinker", resulting in a supposed high 10 times stronger than regular-style consumption without hangover or (in this diet-crazed world) calories.

Which only proves to me that Aussies are clever bastards indeed. The thing looks like a vending machine, no idea how much it might cost.

hmmm - it's only a matter of time before this comes to the US. Then, college students will get ahold of it. they will overdose because this stuff is going straight into your bloodstream, not going through the digestive system where it could be processed a bit more slowly. then, some of them will die or be similarly incapacitated.

all in all, a fun toy...

It's a freakin' nebulizer! My son uses one all the time. All you need is a small pump/compressor to force air (we don't need to use O2, plain ol' air for us) into the nebulizer. The liquid inside (albuterol for boy) is dispersed into a fine mist that is inhaled. Since it goes straight to lungs and hence the bloodstream you get a much faster and stronger effect from the liquid.
