Anger, Hate, and Loathing (Rah Rah Rah)

I found this essay that does a pretty good (and even-handed!) job explaining why:

Democrats are seized with a loathing for President Bush — a contempt and disdain giving way to a hatred that is near pathological — unlike any since they had Richard Nixon to kick around.

It's not just Dems... there seem to be a lot of independents (aka "indecisives") who feel the same way, for the same reasons.

You know, I think it's very funny.

I think it's funny that when you get an entire party, and then some (whom you call 'indecissives' which I think is a very wrong term, we can discuss later) together against a political leader that has an (R) after his name, everyone thinks its the unhinging of a party. Hmmm, togetherness = unhinged? Must be the 'new math." Anyhow, remember when an entire political party was against a political leader with a (D) after his name got together against him? Yeah, back then it was called true patriotism. Or even better yet, protecting the nation from the horros of this man and thus, a necessary deed. No unhinging, but praise. I'm kinda seeing a double standard here, don't you?

It's the unhinging of the party when they are all against him, but do not have a single viable alternative to any of his decisions. I'll posit that Bush has made mistakes. Where is the Democratic solution? I haven't found a single one yet.

Thanks very much for making that point Joshua. There is an enormous double standard, my son and I argue over it all the time.

The difference being that the guy who had a "D" after his name actually did something wrong. Not with the girl, with the prosecutors later on.

The double standard lies in that no one has accused the guy with the "R" of any criminal misconduct. As noted in the essay, disagreeing with someone, or even concluding they're ruining the country, is not the same thing. The fact that they are being seen as equivalent by the dems is what makes them unhinged.

To find someone with an "R" by their name who actually did something wrong you'd need to go back a little further, oh, say, 1973. Congress's reaction, and the people's reaction to that congress, is instructive.

Done nothing wrong? How about try a US CITIZEN in a private military tribunal? How about the human rights violations in Guantanamo?

Vote Democratic dear, it's the only way you'll get enough partisan momentum to swing the pendulum back, and have Dems investigating the "sins" of past Republican administrations.

Again.

Tell me what specifically with the Prosecutors, I suppose it was the "Special Prosecutor"! Let's don't go there. We can continue this argument until the end of time and never, ever agree. Jeff where are you?
