Mmmm.. Feisty!

Just to prove that the US isn't the only country with really dumb politicians, we have this story of a Canadian MP calling Americans "bastards". The clarification was even better: she was saying it in a "private conversation". With a reporter. In a hall filled with them.

In the game of party politics, this is known as "not helping".

Note: I don't begruge the opinion. I just find all the backpedaling and "oops"-ing after the fact really amusing.

I JUST got finished reading that! Did you hear about the advisor who called Bush a "moron"? Also to a reporter? Politicians are dumb, no matter which country they're from.

To her credit, I believe she was saying it jokingly to mock the attitude that many Canadians (and Americans, and Europeans, and...) have that it's ALL AMERICA'S FAULT and ALWAYS HAS and ALWAYS WILL BE.

Go back to the article and read the comments listed at the bottom. I think George the Younger is a moron but he is our moron and I don't want anyone outside the country calling him one. lol
Pam I don't think she was joking at all, just being stupid. First law of politics, Never, ever say anything to memebers of the press unless you intend for it to be front page news. Especially if it is a stupid comment.

The first time I read the article it said she had made the comment "jokingly" - but now when I go back I see they've taken that out. Ah well. She's still silly =P

Look at all the Americans saying that they're never going to come to Canada again and yadda yadda. That's also quite silly.
